One Click Cars, a UK-based automotive industry player, sought to revolutionize the car buying process by providing customers with an online platform where they can purchase their desired vehicles hassle-free. To enhance their offerings, I was engaged to develop a WordPress subsite dedicated to car reviews. The objective was to create a user-friendly website that fetches and imports data from a Python-powered REST API, enabling customers to access detailed reviews and make informed purchase decisions.

Website Development

  • Developed a dedicated WordPress website hosted on a subdomain to serve as a car review platform.
  • Utilized HTML, CSS, JS, jQuery, PHP, and custom coding to build a custom theme and ensure optimal functionality.
  • Integrated Elementor and Gutenberg for streamlined content creation and management.
  • Incorporated Advanced Custom Fields and Custom Post Types to organize and display car reviews effectively.
  • Collaborated with the client’s design team to implement their vision and create a visually appealing user interface.

REST API Integration

  • Created a REST API using Python to fetch and import car data, including make, model, year, gear type, title, doors, status, photos, category, and performance information.
  • Utilized JSON to structure and transfer data between the REST API and the WordPress website.
  • Developed custom endpoints within the WordPress REST API to handle requests and retrieve car review data.
  • Implemented custom post types and taxonomies to organize and categorize car reviews efficiently.

Custom Theme Development

  • Based on the design provided in Adobe XD, developed a custom theme tailored to One Click Cars’ brand identity and requirements.
  • Leveraged PHP, HTML, and CSS to create a responsive and visually appealing website design.
  • Ensured compatibility with various devices and browsers, providing a seamless experience for users.

Objective

The client required a dedicated website to publish comprehensive car reviews, offering potential buyers detailed information about each car's features, specifications, and performance. The goal was to create an intuitive platform where users could access reliable and up-to-date information to assist them in making informed purchasing decisions.

Outcome

By developing a custom WordPress website, a dedicated subdomain was created for One Click Cars to showcase detailed car reviews. The site integrated seamlessly with the main One Click Cars website and provided a user-friendly interface for browsing and accessing essential vehicle details. The outcome was a visually appealing and interactive platform that offered valuable insights to potential buyers.
